Cohiba Pyramides Extra

This is the latest addition to the Cohiba Line from habanos. However it’s not the first time Pyramides, they released Edićion Limitada for the year 2000 in a jar and 2006 but this time they added “EXTRA” to the name and its going to be in the regular production. And not to forget that it has the new band of Cohiba. Lets go to the cigar it self.

Size: 6.3 x 54

Initial Thoughts:

It’s a huge good looking Pyramid that constructed very well. The wrapper is a smooth veinless light brown. The draw is on the loose side but exportable brings cool aromas of sweet cedar.

The Smoking:

Peppery start with blast of cedar and roasted nuts lasts for few puffs before the cigar settle down a bit. An inch down and the smoke settled to medium at most and the the pepper mellowed away to allow that sugar cane sweetness to show off along with a mild earthy cedar. Toward the mid point the cigar keep showing complexity with more flavors appearing of sweet mild coffee and toasted bread , while body still on the medium range. Past the half part the smoke still creamy medium and the flavors are still the same “Cedar, pepper, nuts, sweet coffee & earthy” with hints of black tea & baking spices on the background. The last couple of inches the smoke turns to be hot and bitter and most of the flavor disappeared but still ok.

Final Thoughts:

This is a good smoke over all. Do I like it? Mm yes. Would I buy it again!! Maybe after awhile. Would I recommend it to a friend? Not really. This cigar was bland for my taste and didn’t give the real Cohiba experience in both complexity & strength. I’d expect way more than this from a USD 40 cigar. I won’t refer it to the age because I had many young Cohibas in my time. And honestly I wish Habanos released a regular Pyramide rather than Extra. If you have an opinion please leave a comment.
