Montecristo No.1

An elegant cigar from the old days before the robustos take the biggest share of Cigar fans attintion. Just to let you know myself don’t smoke many small ring guage cigars in my daily routine. It was released pre 1960s. the one i smoke for this review is from othe year 2010. lets see  what this Montecristo No.1 up for:

Pre light:

Size: 6.4″ X 42

Origin: Cuba

Beautiful looking Londale has a sexy box press to it. Very good feel to it which is not very solid. The wrapper is “MONTECRISTO” grade “if you know what I’m talking about” light brown with seem less veins and fair amount of oils. The draw is absolutely perfect delivers a light wood and raw nuts.

The initial draw almost mild to medium in body and flavors, has little of sweet tobacco and wet wood and just a touch of pepper. Not a very long this cigar started to show it self and grabbed more attention with increase in both body and flavor. The body is straight medium and the flavor profile added more notes of sweet tobacco, black tea and floral taste. Down to the end of this third it is obvious that the pepper building up along with the body and the flavors profile.

I would never drink A cup of Tea with A cup of Coffee at the same time, but proudly would smoke them, a lot of coffee, tea, caramel, floral and cedar with very nice tingle of pepper start this third. Towards the Midway point found hints of a SANDAL WOOD and Cocoa like while the tea/coffee duo still up and lots more of pepper on the retro hale.

Final third:

Here the Tea took the back seat and the coffee and the coffee became the core flavor with lots of caramel, Sandal wood or sweet cedar and floral and great amount of pepper while the body reached the upper side of medium. Farther more a touch of earthiness and bitterness appeared to add pleasant finish to the smoke.

Final thoughts:

Who know me knows that I’m a big fan of Montecristo Brand. This cigar in particular is the only Lonsdale in my smoking routine. Does it worth it!! Yes. Is it a complex cigar!! Yes. Would I recommend it for a friend!! Yes. It is unbeatable cigar by all means. 3 years in the humidor enough to bring a Class A cigar.
