Alec Bradley Prensado Robusto

This is I guess the latest release from Alec Bradley cigar. Well I’ve tried few other blends from AB cigars and didn’t really care about them, but I was attracted to the “Prensado” because I’m big fan of the box pressed and this is what the name means. I’ve sampled 4 sticks and here what I found:

Initial thoughts:

Size: 5 x 50

Wrapper: Honduran Corojo 2006

Filler: Honduras, Nicaragua

Binder: Nicaraguan Jalapa

Very nice looking box pressed cigar. The construction seems to be very good with solid like rock body. The wrapper has very nick dark color to it and decently oily. The prelight draw here was really hit or miss, but the good ones has very nice draw brings cool nutty woody tobacco flavor. The burn not the best and require touch ups while the ash falls very quickly.

1st third:

The initial puffs were medium in body and strength with good amount on sweetness pepper and leather. The sweetness quickly took the back seat and with the pepper driving and the leather navigating a new comer “espresso” appeared but no change in the body so far its a solid medium. By the end of this third the body increased to med-full and some cocoa butter like flavor jumped in.

2nd third:

The smoke still smooth with some pepper and espresso with the back ground has hints of leather and cocoa butter and the body is medium back. Nothing really changed here except the sweetness has gone and the espresso became a core hint of dry wood.

Last third:

Something like molasses brought the sweetness back but the smoke became dry!! The body almost full here. More coffee here and the smoke is getting dryer that’s the end.

Final thoughts:

I don’t know what to say here, another Cigar that I won’t go to again. Please leave a comment if you have an opinion.

  1. Hello,

I am moving to Abu Dhabi in a couple of months and am anxious to know whether i’ll need to buy a stock of cigars at the duty free at the airport when coming in or will i be able to find reasonably priced ones in abu dhabi itself?

Relatively speaking, When I say reasonably priced, I currently 5 to 6 euros for, let’s say, a Montecristo No. 4 or a RyJ No.2 Tubos.

I’d love to know because I’m afraid I will be left in Abu Dhabi bereft of one of my passions in life, cigars !!!

    kindest regards,

    • Well, first welcome to Abu Dhabi. The city is cuban cigars heaven, because of the price.

Yes you will get the cigars you mentioned with approximately the same price. Here in the city we have a LCDH at AD Mall.

However its great to get couple of boxes from the Dutyfree cigar world with very decent prices. All in all you won’t be without a cigar in Abu Dhabi.
