Kristoff Ligero Maduro Robusto

well obviously kristoff cigars are made by exclusive cigars in the Dominican Republic. and this particular of the Kristoff Ligero Maduro is marketed %70 of the tobacco used is a ligero and as a three-quarters full in body but very full in flavor. well from the first time i saw this cigar i hardly tried to get my hand on some, not very short i did and smoked two and here what i found:

Size: 5.5X54

Wrapper: Brazilian Maduro
Binder: Cuban Seed Dominican
Filler: Cuban Seed Dominican and Cuban Seed Nicaraguan

Initial thoughts:

It is the cigar that every one would wish to smoke when about construction. Well rounded fat cigar with stylish look shaggy foot and pig tile head. Very dark chocolate wrapper with decent amount of oils and minimal veins.  The pre light draw was good and brings a cool taste of earth, wood and little cocoa.

1st:

Very medium body at first with decent amount of flavors here with maduro sweetness and small amount of pepper. Half an inch down the smoke started to get more in the flavors side with deeper cocoa leather and sweet maduro and back ground of wet wood and Straight medium body. The cigar started to really interesting by the end of the second inch when the ligero could be felt and the maduro turns on to produce a very pleasant flavors profile having rich leather, cocoa, wood and pepper while the body goes to the med-full stage.

2nd:

No much change here at the beginning of this third except for the pepper with became very pronounced. At the midway point the cigar is absolutely strong with caramel to join the flavors company here. With no changes this third ends.

Final third:

Some earthiness starts this third with typical maduro flavors and stable medium to full body. Well here where the cigar started to get hotter and nothing much to report.

final thoughts:

this is a good cigar for what i got so far, good flavors, construction and performance. how ever i would love it to show more specially in the flavors because after the huge transaction at the end of the first third there were no change. yes i may pick few more but to age them.

  1. Wow, what a rich and nice looking cigar. I will definitly have to try this one after aging it for a while like you suggested. I’ve have been trying to buy more cigars that are produced by the smaller cigar companies rather than the larger corporations. This would be a nice addition to my humidor.

  2. Did you say 70% ligero? What’s with this insane ligero trend lately?

    • I didn’t say the manufacturers did. As you said the its a trend since most of the cigar smokers seeking the strength. However this one was very smooth one and I really don’t believe it has a 70% ligero.

      Thank you.
